California: Proposition 50 soared to a decisive victory, winning by more than 25 points and sending a clear message that voters reject the Republican Party’s anti-democratic and manipulative tactics. Swing Left East Bay volunteers knocked on nearly 16,000 doors and held more than 5,000 conversations with voters — with many more joining phone banks and other outreach efforts.
Virginia: Democrat Abigail Spanberger will be the next Governor and the first woman to lead the state, alongside Democratic winners for Lieutenant Governor and Attorney General. Democrats flipped an astonishing 13 seats in the House of Delegates, including Kimberly Pope Abrams, who was supported by SLEB. Because the Senate was not up for reelection and already held a Democratic majority, Democrats secured a governing trifecta in the state.
Pennsylvania: Three members of the State Supreme Court’s current 5–2 Democratic majority faced an up-or-down vote — and all three were easily confirmed to new 10-year terms. These critical victories ensure Democratic leadership on a court that will soon rule on major issues including elections and reproductive rights.
New Jersey: Democratic Congresswoman Mikie Sherrill sailed to victory in the governor’s race, defeating her Trump-backed opponent by 13 points despite polls suggesting a dead heat.
Mississippi: Democrats flipped two Senate seats in deep red Mississippi, following court-ordered special redistricting elections intended to provide greater representation for the state’s Black voters, breaking the GOP Supermajority.
Maine: Voters rejected a Republican effort to restrict voting rights and approved gun restrictions for individuals who pose a danger.
Minnesota: Democrats won one of the two state Senate special elections, preserving their control of the chamber.
New York City: Zohran Mamdani, a Progressive champion will be the next mayor of New York City, handily defeating Andrew Cuomo, who ran as an Independent after losing the primary as well as his Republican challenger.
Georgia: Democrats Peter Hubbard and Alicia Johnson have delivered an upset in a special election, defeating two Republican incumbents on the state’s Public Service Commission, marking the first time the Democratic Party has won a statewide constitutional office in Georgia since 2006..
